Welcome

Considering counselling while facing emotional challenges, reflects your courage and instinctive desire for growth.

Life can bring us unexpected and unwelcome experiences which can deeply affect and change us.

These events create disconnection from who we are and where we want to be.

You might feel 'lost'; an undefined sense that 'something' needs to be different.

Perhaps you're silently carrying the persistent weight and impact of trauma.

Struggling with relentless stress or anxiety.

Burnt out from work demands of caring for family members.

Navigating challenges of caring for a child with developmental trauma/neurodivergence.

Lost and confused from Grief and Loss.

Feeling lonely and disconnected in relationships with family or friends.

You are ASD/ADD/ADHD or AUDHD and trying to find your authentic voice .

Your story matters.

I offer a Person-Centred approach, supporting a wide range of emotional difficulties and bring my knowledge of Neurodiversity, Developmental Trauma and Bereavement.

At your pace, with sensitive empathic enquiry, we can gently explore your

feelings, beliefs, thoughts & experiences that cause you distress and discomfort.

You will be supported to feel safe, as you begin to re-frame unhelpful narratives and patterns that no longer serve you,

You can begin to trust and nurture your growing sense of self,

creating space for meaningful change.

Dawn the counsellor of the emotional edit

Hello

I have an NHS background and most recently provided person-centred care to patients attending A&E who were experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties.

For years, I've  been a special guardian to a child with developmental trauma and neurodivergence. This deeply personal experience, identified a lack of relevant support for parents and caregivers, who give so much of themselves, to our most vulnerable and often misunderstood children.

This inspired my mission: to deeply understand Parenting Trauma and to create a safe space where parents and caregivers felt truly heard. I gained  a Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting and later a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling, enabling me to offer compassionate and informed care.

As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent woman, I also understand the complexities of lost identity, deep shame, and grief of missed opportunities. These experiences have shaped my passion for helping others find healing, to embrace their unique selves through connection, acceptance, and growth.

I have previously volunteered with the Samaritans and during the Covid pandemic, supported parents and caregivers via a parenting charity. I currently volunteer with Just ‘B’, counselling those experiencing Grief and loss.

I am committed to continuous learning—both in my personal journey and staying informed of the latest developments in Counselling, and my special interests of Trauma, Neurodivergence, and Grief.

My goal is to bring meaningful knowledge and effective practice into the therapeutic relationship to enhance well-being and self-agency.

I look forward to working with you.

Warmly,

                                                       Dawn.
